Description

STFC require the purchase of a 5 axis simultaneous, conversational CNC milling machine. This is to increase the simultaneous 5 axis CNC machine tool capacity within the ISIS mechanical workshop to enable us to meet the demand of the current and forthcoming projects. This upgrade is to ensure that the CNC machine tools to run smoothly and efficiently with as little disruption as possible.

This is for a Large area, high accuracy, 5 axis simultaneous, conversational CNC milling machine which is compatible with existing machinery within the ISIS department at STFC.

Legal Justification

The contract was awarded without prior publication due in accordance with PCR 2015 Regulation 32.(2) (b)The negotiated procedure without prior publication may be used for public works contracts, public supply contracts and public service contracts in any of the following cases: (ii) competition is absent for technical reasons. The supplier selected for this contract has been identified that they are the only one who can meet exact technical specification requirements. In addition STFC have existing machinery in place in which will only work with this suppliers existing and current software.
