2. II.I.4 Short description

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council are the relevant authority for the Black Country Coroners Service. The Black Country Jurisdiction covers Sandwell, Walsall, Dudley and Wolverhampton and this contract will provide digital autopsy(CT scanning) services for all four areas and will be offered in one lot as we seek a single provider. Digital Autopsy/CT Scanning (The Council) is used as first line intervention as an alternative undertaking this procurement exercise in order to traditional post-mortem examinations establish a supplier who can supply and deliver Building Materials to multiple locations within the Black Country. Patients are scanned via a CT Scanner and images from the scan are then used by specially trained radiologists and coroners’ pathologists to assist in ascertaining a cause Borough of death. It is anticipated that a cause of death can be ascertained in approximately 75% of cases where patients have been scanned. This avoids the need Sandwell to use the more traditional invasive approach carry out repairs to post mortem tenanted properties within the Borough of Sandwell. Deliveries will be made to the Supplies Section at Roway Lane, Oldbury, West Midlands and directly to the tenant’s address within Sandwell. There are 29,000 properties in these cases. the six towns (West Bromwich, Oldbury, Smethwick, Tipton, Rowley Regis and Wednesbury) in Sandwell. The Council cannot determine what percentage of goods will be delivered to the Supplies section and what percentage of goods will go directly to the tenant’s properties.The items for delivery will include bricks, plaster materials, bulk bagged materials, cement, fence posts and fencing materials along with those items required to carry out the repair to the property.
