Description

The Secretary of State for Defence intends to directly award a contract to GE Energy Power Conversion Ltd for technical reasons under regulation 16(1)(a)(ii) of the Defence and Security Public Contracts Regulations 2011 for the supply of Integrated Gate Bi-Polar Transistors and Thyristors, which are manufactured by Dynex Semiconductor Ltd exclusively for GE Energy Power Conversion Ltd and are essential for the operation of the VDM25000 electrical power and population converter Machine Bridge Modules and Supply Bridge Modules. These are used exclusively on the Type 45 and Queen Elizabeth class vessels operated by the Royal Navy. These goods are manufactured exclusively by Dynex Semiconductor Ltd for integration into the equipment used on the specified vessels.
