Description

WYCA will be transition to franchised bus services with services commencing in three tranches April 2027, January 2028 and October 2028. WYCA is considering procuring up to 450 second-hand buses on behalf of franchise operators and would like expressions of interest from parties.

Total Quantity or Scope

WYCA will be transition to franchised bus services with services commencing in three tranches April 2027, January 2028 and October 2028. WYCA is considering procuring up to 450 second-hand buses on behalf of franchise operators, which must be available prior to the franchise services commencing. WYCA would be looking to limit the number of separate transactions and so fleet would be required in batches of at least 40 vehicles. The required delivery date of vehicles to WYCA would be a short period up to the day before each franchise commences. The fleet must: • Be electric or diesel traction. • Diesel buses would preferably be compliant with the Euro 6 emissions standard but Euro V would also be considered. • Deemed roadworthiness from the most recent annual vehicle test (MOT) and compliant with all relevant UK regulations. Vehicles will have been maintained, excepting any fair wear and tear, in accordance with Good Industry Practice and the Manuals, including all necessary maintenance, inspections, repairs and remedial works. • No vehicle within the offered fleet to be more than 13 years old at the start of operations, with the average age of fleet to be around 8 years old. • Be double-decker, single-decker or midi sized. • Be in right hand drive configuration. • Have one passenger door (conversions from multiple doors would be acceptable) Interested parties are invited express their interest and include a suggestion of how many vehicles that they area able to provide. The value will be dependant on the number of fleet procured, however the Combined Authority is looking to spend no more than £22 million.
