Description
From the 1st April 2013, Public Health based in local authorities have been mandated by the Health and Social Care Act 2012 to commission comprehensive open access sexual health services. This includes free testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) including HIV, treatment of STIs (excluding HIV), notification of sexual partners of infected persons and free provision of contraception.
Total Quantity or Scope
The service provides Levels 1,2 and 3 specialist sexual health service models in accordance with national requirements for sexual health service provision as well as supporting self-managed care. It also provides targeted prevention interventions with those at highest risk of poor sexual health outcomes and is required to make services more accessible for those who might not typically use them, thereby reducing health inequalities. Somerset Council is intending to Direct Award this contact in line with Direct Award process C of the Provider Selection Regime. Contract term: 01.04.2026 - 31.03.2028 Lifetime value of the contract: £4,434,400
