Description
NHS Shared Business Services act in an Agency capacity for and on behalf of its customers (Approved Organisations) - existing and new. These comprise of NHS and Social Care organisations (whether acting individually, or on behalf of, or together as members of any consortia) along with any other public or private sector bodies which NHS SBS authorises to use the resulting Framework Agreement. NHS SBS has put in place a Framework Agreement for the provision of Interpretation and Translation Services and related Goods and Services for the Public Sector to be used by NHS SBS Approved Organisations. Our Approved Organisation list can be found on: https://www.sbs.nhs.uk/services/framework-agreements-categories/ The framework includes Face to Face translation, British Sign Language (BSL), Telephone Interpretation, Document Translation and ancillary services, Video Interpretation and a One Stop Shop for Managed Services. | 1 | Face to Face (Spoken Language) Lot 1 is for the provision of Face-to-Face Interpretation and Translation Services, the awarded Suppliers have demonstrated that they are able to supply spoken word interpreters, across a range of languages for varied public sector language requirements. This could include interpreters with language specialisms including legal, medical, pharmaceutical, financial, IT, media, trauma, children, education, mental health, transportation, engineering, procurement, marketing, housing, benefits, immigration, defence, security, technical and government (central and local), in connection with the Procurement |
| 2 | British Sign Language (BSL) Lot 2 is for the provision of British Sign Language services, the awarded Suppliers will supply interpreters or translators able to provide non-verbal communication to the deaf and deaf-blind community for varied public |
| 3 | Telephone Interpreting Lot 3 is for the provision of Telephone Interpretation Services, the awarded Suppliers will provide telephone based spoken word services across a range of common and rare languages for varied public sector customers. The services will be available on a 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year basis to provide full coverage and access to first-person interpretation services, in connection with the call-off contact. |
| 4 | Document Translation and Ancillary Services Lot 4 is for the provision of Document Translation and Ancillary Services, this includes, but is not limited to, website localisation services and transcription services. Awarded Suppliers will provide document translation services across a range of languages across all forms of written texts and performed by qualified translators, machine translated, or a mixture of both with post translation editing. Documents can be varied and may include manuals, handbooks, marketing brochures, flyers, leaflets and letters, website material, guidance or information documents. File formats may include MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and text, RTF, PDF, Quark, Photoshop and Illustrator plus many more in connection with the call-off contact. |
| 5 | Video Interpretation Lot 5 is for the provision of Video Interpreting, the awarded Suppliers will supply the provision of Video Interpretation services as both 'On-Demand' and 'Pre-Booked' services with the ability to use commonly used video conferencing software or bespoke portals from suppliers in connection with the call-off contract. |
| 6 | One Stop Shop (Managed Service) Lot 6 is for the provision of a One Stop Shop Interpretation and Translation Service. This lot enables the provision of comprehensive, managed services that include all aspects of Interpretation and Translation (spoken, BSL, telephone, video, and document translation). |

Other Information
Price is not the only award criterion, and all criteria are stated only in the procurement documents. The Framework Agreement procurement was undertaken as an Open Procedure. The Framework Agreement will commence on 6 November 2025 and end on 5 November 2027. The Authority reserves the right to extend the Framework Agreement for a further period of 24 months, up to 5 November 2029. The contract will be awarded for 24 months with an option to extend for a further 24 months. Some purchases under this Framework Agreement may have requirements that can be met under this Framework Agreement but the purchase of which may be exempt from the Procurement Regulations. In such cases, Call-off Contracts from this Framework will be unregulated purchases for the purposes of the Procurement Regulations, and Approved Organisations may, at their discretion, modify the terms and conditions of any Call-off Contracts to reflect that Approved Organisation's specific needs.
