Description
The School of GeoSciences operates a CAMECA IMS 7f-GEO instrument to deliver a national analytical service for Earth and Environmental Science researchers across the UK under the management of NERC. The system was installed and formally accepted in February 2019 with an initial three-year warranty, followed by three one-year extended warranty periods in 2022, 2023 and 2024. The current service contract expires on 28 February 2026. To ensure continued operational reliability and avoid disruption to this nationally important facility, a 36-month Gold service agreement, together with RF source replacement, is required. As CAMECA is the sole manufacturer and provider of proprietary components and technical support, all replacement parts must be sourced directly from them. The proposed 36-month renewal will maintain instrument performance, safeguard research continuity, and enable the ongoing provision of analytical services to the UK Earth and Environmental Science community. An optional additional 36-month coverage period is available should extended support be required.
