Description

UK4 Tender Notice - Wrexham County Borough Council will be seeking to procure a training provider to deliver mandatory Childcare Training for Safeguarding courses (a combination of Group B/Level 2 and Group C/Level 3) and Paediatric First Aid (a combination of 6 hour and 12 hour courses) in line with the National Minimum Standards for regulated childcare 2023 to meet the varying needs of the early years and childcare workforce through a mixture of day time, evening and weekend courses.

Lot Division

1 Group B (Level 2) Safeguarding Intermediate Course
  • Value: £20K

Intermediate Safeguarding Children courses help to increase existing safeguarding knowledge and teach more about what is involved in the safeguarding process. The course shows how to identify abuse, and report concerns as well as learn more about the safeguarding structure, recognising risks and what happens after a referral to social care has been made. Course type and considerations: • Face to face course • Duration: 4-6 hours/1 day/2 x evenings

2 Group C (Level 3) Advanced Safeguarding Course
  • Value: £40K

Advanced Safeguarding courses teach more about what the role involves and helps to understand the safeguarding process in more detail. The course uses a variety of written activities and interactive exercises to help review and develop the safeguarding procedures within the setting and ensure that all staff members understand their responsibilities towards safeguarding children. Includes topics relating to allegations of abuse against a staff member and how to deal with these, understanding key legislation and guidance which underpins settings policy for children’s safety and welfare, roles to play in the multi-agency child protection process including case conferences and providing written reports. Course type and considerations: Face to face course Duration: 2 days to be delivered in evenings/weekends

3 Emergency Paediatric First Aid

The course must include: • Be able to assess an emergency situation and prioritise what action to take. • Help a baby or child who is unresponsive and breathing normally. • Help a baby or child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally. • Help a baby or child who is having a seizure. • Help a baby or child who is choking. • Help a baby or child who is bleeding. • Help a baby or child who is suffering from shock caused by severe blood loss (Hypovolemic shock) Course type and considerations: Face to face course Duration: minimum 6 hours (excluding breaks) to be delivered in evenings/weekends

4 Full Paediatric First Aid

he course must include: • Be able to assess an emergency situation and prioritise what action to take. • Help a baby or child who is unresponsive and breathing normally. • Help a baby or child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally. • Help a baby or child who is having a seizure. • Help a baby or child who is choking. • Help a baby or child who is bleeding. • Help a baby or child who is suffering from shock caused by severe blood loss (Hypovolemic shock) • Help a baby or child who is suffering from anaphylactic shock. • Help a baby or child who has had an electric shock. • Help a baby or child who has burns or scalds. • Help a baby or child who has a suspected fracture. • Help a baby or child with head, neck or back injuries. • Help a baby or child who is suspected of being poisoned. • Help a baby or child with a foreign body in eyes, ears or nose. • Help a baby or child with an eye injury. • Help a baby or child with a bite or sting. • Help a baby or child who is suffering from the effects of extreme heat or cold. • Help a baby or child having: a diabetic emergency; an asthma attack; an allergic reaction; meningitis; and/or febrile convulsions. • Understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider (including appropriate contents of a first aid box and the need for recording accidents and incidents). Course type and considerations: Face to face course Duration: minimum 12 hours (excluding breaks) to be delivered in evenings/weekends
