Description

The purpose of the residential is to create a positive environment so that learning will take place through the experiences the young people undertake during the week. We want a programme where the content is carefully picked so that the ‘Team programme & qualification’ outcomes are achieved – establishing a Team through Tuckman’s Team work model. The objective is to implement a controlled and organised programme so that the team members will almost certainly work through Tuckman’s stages: forming, storming, norming & performing. By creating a programme that is structured we can create an atmosphere where the hands on teaching, to be a team is initiated at the start of the week - through controlled activities such as orienteering / climbing / and water based activities etc. As the week continues the leader dependency should gradually withdraw allowing the team to learn through problem solving activities such as the homing and the full day projects. Throughout the week we expect reviews / reflection time to be implemented so that team members can share their experiences of learning. This can be done by facilitating group discussions.
