Description
The Care of the Chemist, minor ailment service aims to promote self-care by encouraging people with minor ailments to access advise and treatment from a community pharmacy. This service will release capacity in other health care setting such General Practice, NHS 111 and A&E.
Total Quantity or Scope
NHS Cheshire and Merseyside ICB has awarded a one year contract via Direct Award A to multiple pharmacies within Knowsley Place to provide the Care At The Chemist service. This contract commenced on 1st April 2026 and will expire on the 31st March 2027. The value of the contract is activity based and community pharmacists are reimbursed for deliver as per the specification.

On the 18th of November 2025 the Finance, Investment, Resources Committee approved this decision and there were no declarations of interest made by members that would materially or adversely impact on matters requiring discussion and decision.
