Legal Justification
Need for modification brought about by circumstances which a diligent contracting authority/entity could not foresee. Description of the circumstances which rendered the modification necessary and explanation of the unforeseen nature of these circumstances: The extension option is being exercised to ensure continuity of critical repairs, maintenance, and capital works services, and to allow sufficient time for future procurement planning and mobilisation of new contract. Commencing on 1st May 2026 and ending on 30 June 2026 (the Fifth Extension Contract). This extension is agreed to allow both parties to complete the remaining activities within the agreed project programme and to finalise the new contractual arrangements currently being progressed. The parties acknowledge their shared intention to use this short extension period to ensure a smooth transition into the new contract and to support the development of a positive and effective working partnership going forward. All other terms and conditions stipulated in the Original Contract remain unchanged.

This notice shows CKH has entered into a deed of variation (the "Contract") to award an extended contract to Mears. This modification is being made in accordance with regulation 72(1)(e) and 72(8) of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015.
