The IAPT provider will deliver a community outcome based service that reflects the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) a National programme of talking therapy treatments compliant with the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines for frontline mental health services in treating depression and anxiety disorders. (See http://www.iapt.nhs.uk/). https://www.england.nhs.uk/mentalhealth/adults/iapt/Wherever patient choice is clinically appropriate, providers are required to support the patient’s decision in line with the requirements in the NHS Standard Contract and NHS England’s guidance on ‘Choice in Mental Health Care’.Provide a person-centred service, and recognise the need for all organisations to work in partnership with Service Users in a holistic and inclusive manner encouraging patient-centred therapy choice. Support families and carers in terms of assessment of their own caring, physical, social, occupational and/or mental health needs and information on how they can support the person or access relevant support groups and networksEvaluate the effectiveness of IAPT through systematic and comprehensive collection of pre- and post-treatment outcome data (as well as session by session outcome monitoring).All therapists should receive regular, outcome-informed supervision that ensures all cases are discussed at regular intervals and decision about step-up/step-down are made in a timely manner (see IAPT Supervision Guidance).
