Description

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (The Approved Organisation) requires a Supplier for provision of Winter Maintenance Services (The Service) , including, but not limited to salt spreading, services to the Authorised Authority's Locations/Premises.The Supplier shall provide comprehensive Winter Maintenance Services, specifically appropriate snow clearance and/or gritting services (the Service), to the Approved Organisation's sites. This is to facilitate safe access for the Approved Organisation's staff, members of the public, patients and other 3rd parties to the Premises.The Supplier and shall be responsible for ensuring the key objectives of the service are maintained, specifically:- Responding to adverse weather conditions twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week- Maintaining safe, logical and clear vehicle and pedestrian circulation routes across the property at all times- Minimising disruption to the property, its core services, staff, patients, visiting members of the public and any adjoining neighboursServices may be required at new/additional Locations/Property during the Term (e.g. new site coming online following completion of a separate building project). Furthermore, the contract value has been calculated based on the average number of incidents of inclement/winter weather which may increase or decrease over the Term, therefore any values specified in this notice may increase in excess of 50% as a result of such a change

Legal Justification

It is envisaged having two contractors performing separate summer and winter maintenance would result in additional overhead costs associated with managing two contractors doing essentially the same work on site, just at different times of the year, and processing invoices, reviewing health and safety etc.The total value of the original contract is £500,000 with the proposed modification of £72,000 representing 14.4% of the original contract value. This is well below the threshold of 50% permitted under Regulation 72(1)(b).

Other Information

The Term is 1 year with the option to extend for a further 4 years. This extension shall take the form of four 12 month incremental periods.The Contract has been procured via Lot 3 (Winter Maintenance Services) of the NHS Shared Business Services SBS10501 (Grounds Maintenance and AssociatedServices) Framework.
