Description

The Electoral Office for Northern Ireland (EONI) wished to engage a supplier to print and deliver ballot papers and associated documents. Printing services will be required for all elections called during the contract period. The contract is for an initial period of two (2) years, followed by three optional extension periods of one (1) year each.

Legal Justification

The contract has been modified to include the printing of ballot papers and associated documents for local council elections. This is on the basis that the Secretary of State has determined that a joint Assembly and Local Council election will run on the same day. The Electoral Office has been instructed to oversee all printing. This will ensure a standardised process and consistent specifications that meet current legislation. This modification does not materially change the nature of the services required under contract from that initially awarded, nor does it change the economic balance of the contract in favour of the contractor as the additional costs during this period will be in line with the charge structure currently operating on the contract and the additional costs will still stay within the original published contract value.
