Description

Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) is a leading provider of education, research and consultancy supporting Scotland’s land-based and natural economy. Its estate comprises a diverse range of campuses, farms, research centres, veterinary facilities and consultancy hubs, each with distinct operational and environmental requirements. SRUC operates across five principal campuses located in Aberdeen, Barony, Elmwood, Edinburgh (King’s Buildings) and Oatridge, alongside a wider network of research farms, Veterinary Disease Surveillance Centres (DSCs) and Farm and Rural Business Services (FRBS) locations. Activities across these sites include agriculture, veterinary nursing, horticulture, environmental management, forestry and food production. Maintaining safe, hygienic and well-presented environments is critical to supporting SRUC’s operations, regulatory compliance and the experience of students, staff and visitors. The Specification sets out the requirements for the provision of cleaning and associated services across the SRUC estate.

Renewal Options

The Contract will commence on or around 5 October 2026 for a period of 3 years with the possibility of 2 one-year extensions by mutual agreement. Renewal will follow. Associated Services may be added to the contract as required.

A summary of the expected community benefits has been provided as follows: SRUC is committed to maximising social value through its procurement activities and to working collaboratively with communities connected to its campuses and sites. Where relevant and proportionate, Community Benefit requirements will form part of this Contract. The Supplier shall adopt a proactive and flexible approach to delivering Community Benefits that align with both SRUC’s objectives and local community priorities. This may include (but is not limited to) the provision of labour, materials, sponsorship, donations, or other forms of support to enhance community initiatives. Financial Contributions to Community Initiatives The Supplier shall proactively seek opportunities to supporting local charitable causes, student sponsorship, or community initiatives through contributions linked to contract value. SRUC proposes the following indicative contribution levels: Annual Contract Value GBP50,000 - 99,999: 0.5% GBP100,000 - 250,000: 1.0% GBP251,000 - 500,000: 1.5% GBP500,001+: 2.0% Contributions may be delivered through a combination of financial (including cash donations or sponsorship) and in kind support, subject to agreement with SRUC, and may be profiled across the contract term to ensure sustained community impact. Local Employment and Skills Development The Supplier shall, where reasonably practicable: Seek to employ staff from the local community; Provide opportunities for skills development, including apprenticeships, training placements, internships, or work experience; Support initiatives aligned with SRUC’s mission to develop skills within the land-based and rural sectors. Community Engagement and Support The Supplier shall engage positively with local communities and demonstrate support for relevant initiatives. This may include: Participation in community events or outreach programmes; Provision of in kind support (e.g. materials, expertise, or staff time); Collaboration with local organisations, schools, or community groups. Reporting and Accountability The Supplier shall maintain appropriate records of all Community Benefit activities delivered under the Contract and provide quarterly reports to SRUC. Reporting shall include, as applicable: Number of local staff employed; Apprenticeships, training, or work placements delivered; Community initiatives supported; Financial contributions made, including cash donations, sponsorship, or grant-style support; Estimated value of in kind contributions; Local supply chain and SME expenditure.
