The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) is seeking to engage with the market ahead of a formal procurement process for the provision of a Retail Outlet(s). The Trust is undertaking this pre-market engagement to gain a better understanding of the market's capacity, capability, and appetite to deliver the requirements within the new build facility at one of its hospital sites. Feedback from this exercise will help inform and finalise the development of the procurement strategy and final service specification. Interested suppliers are invited to contact the Trust (see details within this notice) to obtain the proforma and details of an on-site engagement session to be held on TUESDAY 4th AUGUST (afternoon). SaTH is the main provider of district general hospital services for nearly half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales, operates across two main hospital sites, the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) & the Princess Royal in Telford (PRH) both located in Shropshire approximately 16 miles apart. Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, which is the main provider of district general hospital services for nearly half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales. The Trust, for its healthcare system across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and into Mid-Wales is delivering a major investment that will improve care for everyone through modern, purpose-built hospital facilities and ensure more people get the care they need, at the right time and in the right place. These plans have been led by our doctors and nurses to develop two thriving hospitals, supported by more services in the community. Construction work is well underway at RSH to build a new four storey facility at the RSH site which will be approximately 30,000 sqm and will provide the space we need to start our new ways of working and to provide a more positive experience for patients in calm, dedicated planned care facilities. PRH will become the site specialising in planned care, with RSH becoming the site specialising in emergency care, with the remodelled, larger Emergency Department at the RSH site and facilities including; - A modern, purpose-built Emergency Department - A new, expanded Critical Care Unit - Consultant led maternity care - Children's inpatient services - Emergency medical specialist services, including cardiology, stroke, respiratory and acute medicine - Emergency and trauma surgery - Head and neck inpatient services - Radiotherapy and inpatient and day cancer care and treatment This means they can make quicker decisions about care. The clinical model: Both our hospitals will continue to provide a number of services, which include: - Adult and children's outpatients - Urgent care services and medical Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) - Diagnostics, imaging services including X-ray - Frail and elderly care services Within the new build facility there will also be a new Main Entrance, with open plan reception and hospitality offer. VISION The Trust's vision is to create a flagship retail hub within the Main Entrance that: • Enhances the hospital arrival and waiting experience. • Provides a high-quality café, retail and seating environment. • Supports staff wellbeing and convenience. • Provides access to food, beverages and essential products 24 hours a day. • Delivers a financially sustainable commercial partnership. • Reflects NHS values, sustainability objectives and the quality expectations of a modern acute hospital. • As this is a new provision no data is available on usage or uptake There is more than 200sqm of space allocated for use by it's chosen retail outlet partner. The RSH site currently has 4,300 staff, with an additional 1,000 expected daily for the new extension.
