The programme is primarily focused on delivering HIV and STI prevention interventions to key target groups at national, regional, and local levels—particularly those with a higher or emerging burden of infection, as demonstrated by evidence. Its aim is to ensure that individuals are informed about how HIV and STIs are transmitted, the ways they can protect themselves, where and how to access testing, and the latest developments in prevention and treatment. Key objectives of the programme include: A. Improve awareness and uptake of prevention – Promote knowledge and use of HIV and STI prevention among high-risk groups. B. Expanding testing – Increase testing to reduce undiagnosed cases and late diagnoses. C. Reducing stigma – Tackle HIV-related stigma at individual, community, and institutional levels. D. Enhance collaboration across national, regional and local partners and multi-sector organisations.
